Conference Sub-themes

  1. Unlocking the potential of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in Medical Practice.

This sub-theme will cover various roles of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in advancing healthcare including automated decision support, predictive modelling, resource allocation, and challenges and ethical considerations on using AI across all Internal Medicine subspecialities.

  1. RWE (Real World Evidence): Current management updates across all subspecialties & Geriatric Medicine.

This sub-theme will cover various levels and types of research &/or presentations that highlight new epidemiology, disease mechanisms, diagnostics and interventions across all internal medicine subspecialities. Special focus will be on Geriatric medicine and the science of healthy aging.

  1. From Principle to Practice: Implementation of Guideline Directed Practice in Resource Limited settings & the role of Regional training programmes.

This sub-theme will cover abstracts and presentations on how practical the Standard practice guidelines are in resource limited settings, the challenges of implementation and the impact on disease outcomes. It will also cover evidence on the impact of Regional Training Programmes such as ECSACOP in influencing standardized healthcare in Africa.

4. One Health: Role of the Internist in the collaborative effort to improve the health of people, animals, plants, environment and climate.

This sub-theme will encompass abstracts and presentations on collaborative efforts between the medical sector and anthropology, veterinary and plant medicine. It will also include the dynamics of environmental impact and climate change on healthcare and the practice of human medicine.

  1. Infectious Disease and Adult Vaccination in the era of Global change and Epidemics.

This sub-theme will include abstracts and presentations on the current updates related to Infectious disease medicine and Global health with regards to Antimicrobial use (Stewardship, Resistance patterns, etc.), Adult vaccination updates in the era of growing NCD prevalence and epidemics.

 

Abstract Submission Rules and Guidelines

The theme of this year’s conference is “Fostering regional partnerships for Health innovation and Research in Africa.

  1. Title of presentation: Please choose a brief title (maximum of 100 characters) that clearly indicates the content of the contribution. Please avoid abbreviations in the title. Abbreviations may be used in the text if they are defined when first used.
  2. Authors
    1. Principal author:Name, email, institution/ business affiliation and country
    2. Co-authors:Names and institutions in brief
  3. Preference: For presentation in a poster session or a paper session.
  4. Thematic Area: Please clearly indicate the thematic area in the subject title of the email.
  5. Abstract: Abstracts should be prepared in Word and submitted as single page document. Font should be 12 point Arial. Please ensure that your abstract contains no more than 500 words. Please provide maximum relevant information in the abstract in the following format:
    1. Background and aims
    2. Methods
    3. Results
    4. Conclusion
  6. Key-words: Please indicate 3 keywords for your abstract
  7. Conflict of Interest: A brief statement of conflicts of interest should be included at the bottom of the page; this is not included in the word count. Conflicts of interest include payments of any kind to the author or associate might be considered to have possibly influenced the comments made in the abstract or in any intended presentation or poster. These conflicts of interest do not disqualify authors, but must be disclosed. For most abstracts the simple statement “The authors declare that no conflicts of interest” will suffice.
  8. Abstract submission: Abstracts in this format should be emailed to abstracts2025@kapkenya.org. All abstracts will be scored on the basis of relevance to the conference theme and scientific quality. Include the following information in the subject line of your email:
    1. Sub theme – Primary author’s surname – first four words of your abstract title– abstract
    2. Sub theme – Primary author’s surname – first four words of your abstract titleposter (for poster submissions only)
    3. If you have more than one abstract accepted, please send each poster on a separate email.
  1. Abstract Submission Deadline: 31st May 2025
  2. Abstract Notification: 15th July 2025
  3. Abstracts not accepted for oral presentation may be encouraged to make poster presentations
  1. Contact the college secretariat at info@ecsacop.org (cc.abstracts2025@kapkenya.org) in case you do not receive an acknowledgment/follow-up email from the conference secretariat within 72 hours of submission of your abstract.
