Prof. Joseph A Aluoch a distinguished medical professional, graduated from Makerere University, Uganda, in 1968. Throughout his career, he held significant roles in combating communicable diseases, notably serving as Deputy Director of the Communicable Diseases Division and Director of the National TB Program from 1975 to 1977. Following this, he assumed the position of Honorary Lecturer at Nairobi University’s Department of Medicine until 1986, concurrently directing the TB and Respiratory Diseases Research Centre and serving as a Consultant at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Nairobi.
Prof. Joseph Aluoch has been actively engaged in various governmental boards and medical associations in Kenya, notably chairing several. Currently, he holds prestigious positions as the Patron of the Kenya Association of Physicians, the Respiratory Society of Kenya, and the HIV Clinicians Society of Kenya. He also served as the Immediate Past President of the Pan African Thoracic Society.
His contributions to global healthcare have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Honorary Member Award from the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in 2017. Prof. Joseph Aluoch has authored over 60 papers published in esteemed local and international peer-reviewed journals, solidifying his reputation as a leading authority in his field. Additionally, he serves as an Overseas Representative and Adviser Emeritus for the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
