Dr. Eric Murunga trained at the University of Nairobi and earned his MBChB degree in 1998. He proceeded to the USA where he trained in internal medicine. He trained in gastroenterology in Cape Town, South Africa. This led to an MPhil degree from Stellenbosch University and a Fellowship Certificate from the College of Physicians of South Africa. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Dr. Erick Murunga is also the Chairman of the Gastroenterology Society of Kenya
