Naftali Busakhala is a Senior Lecturer and specialist Physician at Moi University and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. He is the departmental postgraduate coordinator at the department of pharmacology and toxicology at Moi University. He is the co-chairman of the Ampath Oncology working group. Dr Busakhala is the principal investigator of the AIDS Malignancy Consortium, Moi University Site. He is also the principal investigator of the Lung and Breast Cancer Projects.
He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Prevention and Research, Lyon France. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals.
Dr Busakhala is the Chairperson of the Kenya Society of Haematology and Oncology (KESHO).
He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Moi University and a Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine from University of Nairobi. He also received post graduate training in Pharmacology from Tianjin University China and Makerere University Uganda. He was a Fogarty trainee in Haematology and Oncology at Brown University, USA.

Prof. Joseph A Aluoch a distinguished medical professional, graduated from Makerere University, Uganda, in 1968. Throughout his career, he held significant roles in combating communicable diseases, notably serving as Deputy Director of the Communicable Diseases Division and Director of the National TB Program from 1975 to 1977. Following this, he assumed the position of Honorary Lecturer at Nairobi University’s Department of Medicine until 1986, concurrently directing the TB and Respiratory Diseases Research Centre and serving as a Consultant at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Nairobi.
Prof. Joseph Aluoch has been actively engaged in various governmental boards and medical associations in Kenya, notably chairing several. Currently, he holds prestigious positions as the Patron of the Kenya Association of Physicians, the Respiratory Society of Kenya, and the HIV Clinicians Society of Kenya. He also served as the Immediate Past President of the Pan African Thoracic Society.
His contributions to global healthcare have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Honorary Member Award from the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in 2017. Prof. Joseph Aluoch has authored over 60 papers published in esteemed local and international peer-reviewed journals, solidifying his reputation as a leading authority in his field. Additionally, he serves as an Overseas Representative and Adviser Emeritus for the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

Migai Akech holds a Doctoral degree in law and a Master of Law degree in Trade Regulation from New York University (NYU) School of Law, a Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelor’s degree in law (First Class Honours) from the University of Nairobi.
Migai is the proprietor of Prof. Migai Akech & Associates, Advocates, a law firm based in Nairobi that specializes in Constitutional and Administrative Law Litigation, Health Law, and International Trade Law (including the African Continental Free Trade Area).
Migai teaches law at the University of Nairobi, where he is a Professor of Law. He is an accomplished legal scholar and practitioner with an extensive knowledge base and experience in governance, regulatory compliance and trade regulation.
Migai worked as a Governance Expert at the African Union’s African Peer Review Mechanism (2018-2020).
Migai has advised the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho on constitutional and anti-corruption reforms, and the Government of Kenya in the negotiation of an international free trade agreement.

Lameck Diero is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the Department of Medicine at Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya. He is a consultant physician with a focus on managing Respiratory diseases and Tuberculosis at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and AMPTH HIV/TB clinics. Currently he chairs the adult medicine and Tuberculosis Research working groups at AMPATH consortium, Moi University. He is the past chairman of the department of medicine and Director Institute of Biomedical informatics.
Prof Diero has training background in Internal Medicine, Medical informatics and health services research at Nairobi and Indiana Universities respectively. He also received training in TB and respiratory diseases at The University of Kwa Zulu Natal and Sondalo institute in Italy. He was elected to the fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Scotland in June 2019. He is a member of several professional societies including; Kenya Association of Physicians, Kenya Medical Association, Respiratory Society of Kenya, American Thoracic Society, Pan African Thoracic society and European Respiratory Society.
He has extensive experience in Global Research, training and program management. He has attracted several research and training grants including NIH research grants, the HITRAIN, FIMP grant and Forgarty funded D43. Prof Diero has published more than 80 papers in peer reviewed journals with more than 50 conference abstracts. His research theme is on TB, Lung Health and HIV treatment outcomes and interactions with opportunistic infections. Additionally he is engaged in health informatics based researches involving use of large databases in research and programs that implement the use of health information technology tools to improve health care delivery. He has developed centers of excellence in management of drug resistant tuberculosis and TB/HIV care models.
He is an external examiner in internal medicine and peer reviewer in many local and international Universities and other international trainings programs including ECSACOP.
He is the Technical Advisor for Tuberculosis at AMPATH clinics and provides technical support to the Ministry of health to implement MDRTB care and a member of the national MDRTB working group. He is a WHO Consultant in TB/HIV activities and previously supported many countries in implementing TB/HIV activities and MDRTB programs. He has a passion in training, mentorship, Global Health Research and Health Programs Development.

Having completed specialist training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in the United Kingdom, Dr Devani returned to Kenya 25 years back to establish the Gastroenterology and GI Endoscopy Service at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi.
She served the University’s Department of Medicine, Gastroenterology Section as its first Head in the position of Senior Lecturer, while also working in private practice at the same institution.
She also played a key role in setting up the Gastroenterology and GI Endoscopy Service at the recently opened Jalaram Medical Services, a low-cost and community philanthropic healthcare institution.
Dr Devani has also served the Gastroenterology Society of Kenya (GSK) in various capacities for more than two decades.
She has over the years developed a special clinical, academic and research interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and has had several peer-reviewed publications and keynote lectures published and presented in the field of IBD.

Dr. Taby Siika is a senior resident currently pursuing a Masters in Internal Medicine at Aga Khan University Hospital. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Nairobi. Prior to her current position, she served as a medical officer at both Elgeyo Marakwet County and The Karen Hospital. Her professional journey of more than 10 years has fostered a deep-rooted interest in Internal Medicine, drawn by its holistic approach to patient care.

David holds an LLM in Law and Economics from University College London (UCL).
He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
He has extensive experience in tax consultancy in both direct and indirect tax covering various sectors including Government and Public Sector, financial sector, manufacturing and retail sectors.
He was nominated as Top 40 Under 40 men in 2019 and in 2023 as EMEA Rising Star in Tax Dispute by the International Tax Review Awards
He is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya Tax Committee
Prior to working at EY, David worked in a London-based law firm in the Corporate, Commercial, Real Estate and Project Finance teams, where he was involved in structuring various corporate and commercial engagements in Europe, the Americas, UAE and Africa.
He also worked in government, where he was involved in the development and implementation of infrastructure, agriculture and energy projects at both the national and county level.

Gladys has over 19 years’ experience in various management and leadership roles in Kenya,
Botswana and South Africa. She has industry knowledge in various sectors – financial, banking,
investment, manufacturing, ICT, horticulture and real estate – where she garnered extensive
experience especially in the areas of accounting & finance, management & leadership and
governance. She has been acknowledged for her capacity to harness enthusiasm and talent of
others, to streamline less-than-efficient procedures to boost productivity, and also credited for
significantly impacting the bottom-line profitability wherever she has worked.
Her most recent professional experience was with Olympia Capital Holdings PLC where she
served as the Group CEO. She served in the same organization as Finance Director from
September 2011 to July 2017. She has had stints as Head of Finance with Equatorial Investment
Bank, Accountant with Suntra Investment Bank, Accountant (Receivables) with Kenya Data
Networks (now Liquid Telecoms Kenya), amongst other notable organizations. She made the
decision to fully shift from corporate service to the knowledge sharing space in September 2019.
She is an adjunct faculty member with Strathmore University, an independent facilitator with
Raiser Resource Group and Enwealth Financial Services, and is a coach and a mentor.
Over the last 3 years, Gladys also been actively running Zueric Limited, a consultancy firm that
helps address and resolve short and long term strategic issues that confront organizations today.
A seasoned Personal Finance Coach since 2011, she has authored two personal financial
management books – ‘Managing Your Finances God’s Way’ (that comes with a workbook by the
same title) and ‘Smart Money Habits’. Since the inception of her coaching career, she has been
providing quality, unbiased personal finance education, advice and guidance to various
corporates, groups as well as to individuals. She has been invited to speak on a variety of finance
and non-finance topics.
Gladys has participated in various projects as a consultant, coach and facilitator. She participated
in developing coaching guidelines, writing case studies and curriculum development for the
Business Advisory Service Providers (BASP) Network Capacity and Ecosystem Development
programme, a programme that seeks to establish and institutionalize a framework for BASPs to
serve the needs of Kenya’s national and county-level investment growth goals. She also formed
part of the team of facilitators that trained 40+ business operators living with disabilities in various
sectors (including light manufacturing, apparels, retail, hospitality, etc.) with the basic business
skills to enable them accelerate the growth, expansion and profitability of their businesses.
Gladys has served on the boards of Olympia Capital Holdings PLC, Mather & Platt (K) Limited,
Meatons Limited, Avon Rubber Co. Limited and AWAK (Association of Women Accountants of
Kenya). She is also the founding director of Zueric Limited. She currently serves on the board of
Brooms Limited and Resource Global where she continues to share extensive knowledge to
impact profitability and growth of these organizations.
She holds a Master in Business Administration in Strategic Management (UoN), a Bachelor of
Commerce degree in accounting (CUEA) and is a certified public accountant of Kenya. She is
also an ICF Certified Coach, a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya
(ICPAK), the Association of Women Accountants of Kenya (AWAK) and the Institute of Directors
of Kenya (IoDK). She is an ICF certified coach (Associate Certified Coach - ACC) and on course
to complete her CIFA (Certified Investment Financial Analyst) certification. Over the course of her
career, she has attended several other leadership and proficiency trainings

I am Associate Professor in pathology department Moi University which is based in MTRH, teaching hospital of Moi University. We have collaborations with Indiana University, Brown University, University, University of Toronto and University of Sienna Italy. I and our collaboration have also published from the cancer work and other areas as listed under the publications section.

Contributions to Science
- Cause of death in patients on HAART, autopsy study on patients dying in the first year on HAART has shown that preventable infections are the main causes of death following by AIDS associated malignancies lead by Kaposi’s Sarcoma
- Cervical cancer screening study where we found that visual inspection and biopsy using acetic acid is comparable with Pap smear and hence in sites where there are no or few pathologists, visual inspection can be used adequately
- Improvement in pathology to support cancer screening and treatment where among other things, several other sites need to start training to address the great shortage of pathologists in sub Saharan Africa.
