Ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues,
It gives me pleasure to welcome you to attend the 26 KAP Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held between the 15th and 18th of March 2023. This event is being hosted jointly by the National Executive Council (NEC) and the KAP Western Branch at a very beautiful Venue in Kisumu City – Royal Grand Swiss Hotel. The theme of the conference is ‘Incorporating Recent Advancements in Medicine to Strengthen Universal Health Coverage (UHC)’. I want to thank all those who have submitted their abstracts aligned to any of the sub-themes circulated to your emails and posters through the various social media platforms.
This conference will bring together distinguished scholars from the scientific community, leaders from the health industry and regional technocrats, and be sure to learn a wide range of innovative advances in UHC topics, with oral plenary presentations, posters, and break-out sessions. We will also hold our AGM and you will have a chance to ventilate on all issues about the governance of the association. On the sidelines, the conference will offer you an opportunity to network with delegates from all over the country and beyond together with old friends as you enjoy the warm Kisumu weather and Nyanza cuisine.
Please join us in Kisumu City. I am sure you will have a great moment.

KAP 26th Annual Scientific Conference
Greetings to the fraternity of Kenyan and regional Physicians!
On behalf of the Organising Committee of the 26th Annual KAP Scientific Conference and the KAP Western Chapter it gives me great pleasure to warmly invite each of you to come and join us at the Grand Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu from the 15th to the 18th of March 2023 for this year’s conference. A date for your diary!
Our theme this year is “Thinking outside the box – Incorporating recent advancements in medicine to strengthen Universal Health Coverage” and we’re pulling out all the stops to make the conference live to its theme. This year we’ll retain the scientific bedrock that has characterised the conference over the years and will have pertinent updates from specialties including those other than the traditional ones. On top of that we have encouraged the airing of new local and regional research findings in the form of abstracts which will be embedded within the specialty sessions. We are also tackling sub-themes related to issues of the use of digital information and technology to impact delivery of our services, issues of influencing and transforming the environment that we work in as practitioners of medicine, as well as discussing the work life balance of the physicians. These sessions will be delivered by experts in these fields and we look forward to be encouraged to change the way we work, individually and collectively for the better.
We of course have our other activities including the AGM, pre-conference workshops, group fun-time and of course the gala night. This year our dress code will be “Mashinani Mix.” I’m giving early notice so that you have time to let your creative juices flow. You are free to be purist or to mix and match ideas from as many counties as you wish!
All in all we anticipate a scientifically informative meeting, and to come out transformed in our work practice and having had great networking opportunities.
See you there and see you then!
